The IM1 Get Ready Cohort focuses on the skills students need before and during the first quarter of Integrated Math 1. We emphasize Module 1 and Module 2 foundations first, then build a bridge toward relations, functions, slope, and graphing so students are ready when the course begins moving faster.
Students review numerical expressions, algebraic expressions, real-number properties, distributive property, absolute value expressions, and accuracy in mathematical modeling.
Students practice writing, interpreting, and solving equations, including one-step equations, multi-step equations, variables on both sides, absolute value equations, proportions, and formulas.
Students build early confidence with tables, coordinate graphs, rate of change, slope, linear relationships, and the vocabulary needed for functions.
We find the mistake pattern behind the wrong answer.
Students solve targeted problems that show whether the issue is a small slip, a repeated procedure error, or a deeper concept gap.
We reteach the missing idea using models, examples, and guided reasoning instead of asking students to memorize another shortcut.
Students practice varied problems so they can transfer the skill to new questions, word problems, graphs, and tests.
IM1 moves quickly from arithmetic into algebraic structure. A student may understand basic operations but still struggle when expressions, variables, equations, proportions, formulas, and graphs appear together. This cohort helps students build the habits they need before those gaps become harder to fix.

One-step equations, multi-step equations, equations with variables on both sides, and clean step-by-step solving habits.
Absolute value expressions and equations, proportional reasoning, formula use, and interpreting what each quantity means.
Coordinate-plane review, tables, rate of change, slope, slope-intercept readiness, and interpreting linear relationships.
The Get Ready Cohort is designed for first-quarter readiness. Students who want continued support for Quarter 2, homework, quizzes, tests, and long-term gap repair can continue into regular DUSD and PUSD-aligned tutoring.
